The Challenge
Toshiba TABS had recently unveiled a massive high-resolution monolith screen at high-traffic venues like the Staples Center and Toshiba Plaza, home to the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Kings. The challenge: how to transform that impressive screen presence into an interactive, brand-forward experience that fans would love and share.
The Solution
In collaboration with the Toshiba TABS team in California, we developed Mofoto—a mobile augmented reality app that let fans snap virtual photos with their favorite Clippers and Kings players or celebrity. Using AR, the app seamlessly placed life-size, animated sports stars into the user's camera view, allowing for fun, shareable moments in the stadium and beyond.
Our Approach
We focused on delivering a user-friendly interface and high-quality visuals that felt immersive and exciting without requiring additional hardware. Key highlights included:
• AR placement of players in real-world environments
• Smooth camera integration for instant photo capture and social share
• Customization options such as team branding overlays and event tie-ins
• Optimized performance for large crowd usage in venue settings
The app was designed to function as both a live event tool and a promotional vehicle, encouraging social sharing and expanding Toshiba’s digital brand footprint.
Results & Impact
• Boosted fan engagement through a one-of-a-kind in-venue experience
• Elevated Toshiba’s tech presence in major sports arenas
• Encouraged social sharing across fan bases and drove organic promotion
• Positioned TABS as an innovator in AR-enhanced live experiences
Mofoto turned passive spectators into participants, deepening fan loyalty while giving Toshiba a standout moment in the heart of LA sports culture.
